What is the CUTA?
The Chico Unified Teachers Association (CUTA) is a representative body, elected by the teachers, nurses, librarians, and counselors of the Chico Unified School District to represent them in relations with the District and to deal with all matters relating to employment conditions and employer-employee relations. Among other things, CUTA protects the integrity of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between CUTA and CUSD. CUTA also endeavors to develop group opinion and to speak with authority for teachers; works to foster good fellowship among its members, provide the opportunity for continuous study and action on matters of concern to the profession; and serves to encourage cooperation and communication between the profession and the community.
Every officer, committee member, and representative of the Association is a teacher, librarian, nurse or counselor. The educators of Chico and the Association are not separate entities. CUTA is governed by a set of By-laws and by its affiliation with the California Teachers Association (CTA) and the National Educators Association (NEA). CUTA has two major goals: are our Scholarship Fund, which aids deserving high-school seniors who are going to college, and our Dental Fund, which aids low-income students in need of emergency dental services.
